Narrative:
In sum: an small aircraft pilot landed off airport after fuel starvation. The reporting pilot had improperly fueled the aircraft under the direction of an instructor. The reporter and the instructor had flown a brief chkout flight. Several hours later, the reporter flew to another airport and back without refueling. The aircraft had not flown in between the reporter's 2 flts. Had the aircraft been properly fueled prior to the first flight, the aircraft would not have run out of fuel. The reporter declared an emergency and got help from hou approach and tower. The off airport landing produced no aircraft damage, injury, or damage to anything on the ground. After the incident, the reporter found that there were several paperwork discrepancies with the aircraft, a rental.
