Narrative:

Copilot was flying on 090 degree heading, radar vectors to ord. Cleared to 11000 ft. Passing 15000 ft clearance was changed to 14000 ft. Approximately 14100 ft TCASII RA alert commanded climb due to aircraft at 13700 ft. Copilot initiated climb and RA extinguished at 14800 ft. Controller, after being notified of climb, confirmed he had VFR traffic (jumpers) at 13700 ft. We were IMC at 14100 ft and never saw aircraft at 13700 ft. An air carrier flight behind us had RA due to same aircraft. Deviation did not create conflict with any other aircraft.

Title: FLC OF AN MLG ACR ACFT STOPPED DSCNT AND CLBED IN RESPONSE TO A TCASII RA.

Narrative: COPLT WAS FLYING ON 090 DEG HDG, RADAR VECTORS TO ORD. CLRED TO 11000 FT. PASSING 15000 FT CLRNC WAS CHANGED TO 14000 FT. APPROX 14100 FT TCASII RA ALERT COMMANDED CLB DUE TO ACFT AT 13700 FT. COPLT INITIATED CLB AND RA EXTINGUISHED AT 14800 FT. CTLR, AFTER BEING NOTIFIED OF CLB, CONFIRMED HE HAD VFR TFC (JUMPERS) AT 13700 FT. WE WERE IMC AT 14100 FT AND NEVER SAW ACFT AT 13700 FT. AN ACR FLT BEHIND US HAD RA DUE TO SAME ACFT. DEV DID NOT CREATE CONFLICT WITH ANY OTHER ACFT.
