Narrative:
We were descending to 8000 ft. TCASII sounded an alert. We then checked with ATC and he said 'yeah, some unknown traffic just popped up.' we watched the traffic on our screen for a few seconds and also tried to spot it visually with no luck. We then got a TCASII warning to climb. As we were climbing we spotted a twin passed our 10 O'clock position approximately 500 ft below us.
