Narrative:
Hit left wingtip on telephone light pole while taxiing on asphalt ramp towards temporary dirt taxiway. Usual txwys and ramp exit were blocked, under construction. Contributing factors: unmarked temporary obstruction/alternate taxi route. Mindset -- usually contact ground at edge of ramp before entering taxiway. I had obtained ATIS and was waiting to contact ground just before I got to the temporary taxiway entrance. Contacting ground control earlier might have led to me being warned of the light pole clearance. I do not know this, however, I have telephoned the tower to let them know.
