Narrative:
On ILS final, TCASII commanded a 1000 FPM climb, due to intruder alert immediately below our aircraft. Initiated immediate climb from 2500 ft to 3000 ft -- following TCASII RA command. ATC inquired if we were climbing 'due to that aircraft.' we acknowledged that we were. ATC had a helicopter on radar, but we were never notified of the traffic. We never saw the intruder aircraft. We were subsequently told to call the area supervisor by telephone. Supplemental information from acn 250668: after climbing to approximately 3000 ft, TCASII then allowed a descent. Approach asked that I call them on the telephone on landing. Area supervisor (FAA ATC supervisor) stated we had traffic above us at 3500 ft at the time of the TCASII RA.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: FLC OF AN MLG ACR ACFT CLBED ABOVE ASSIGNED APCH ALT IN RESPONSE TO A TCASII RA.
Narrative: ON ILS FINAL, TCASII COMMANDED A 1000 FPM CLB, DUE TO INTRUDER ALERT IMMEDIATELY BELOW OUR ACFT. INITIATED IMMEDIATE CLB FROM 2500 FT TO 3000 FT -- FOLLOWING TCASII RA COMMAND. ATC INQUIRED IF WE WERE CLBING 'DUE TO THAT ACFT.' WE ACKNOWLEDGED THAT WE WERE. ATC HAD A HELI ON RADAR, BUT WE WERE NEVER NOTIFIED OF THE TFC. WE NEVER SAW THE INTRUDER ACFT. WE WERE SUBSEQUENTLY TOLD TO CALL THE AREA SUPVR BY TELEPHONE. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 250668: AFTER CLBING TO APPROX 3000 FT, TCASII THEN ALLOWED A DSCNT. APCH ASKED THAT I CALL THEM ON THE TELEPHONE ON LNDG. AREA SUPVR (FAA ATC SUPVR) STATED WE HAD TFC ABOVE US AT 3500 FT AT THE TIME OF THE TCASII RA.
