Narrative:
Sjc-den landed on the wrong runway at den. Den WX was broken with thunderstorms in the den area. Several scud layers were in the area approximately 1200-1500 ft AGL. Approaching from the northwest we did 1 turn in holding at benam before being cleared profile descent to den. ILS 17L approach was assigned and flown with clearance to land. At the 1000 ft AGL point, tower said he wanted us to land on runway 17R. We saw a runway to the right, with light intensity full bright, and decided that a side step maneuver could be performed, and transitioned from the IFR approach to a visual and landed. The landing runway was 18. At no time during the visual maneuver to the right side did we see runway 17R. We felt the lights on 17R were very low or not on. Additionally, an aircraft was observed landing and exiting the runway during our visual maneuver. The landing was uneventful and the first indication of a problem was that the briefed turnoffs were not correct. Tower instructed us to taxi to the end and turn off on T-1. The taxi to the gate was SOP.

Title: FLC OF AN MLG ACR ACFT LANDED ON WRONG RWY.
Narrative: SJC-DEN LANDED ON THE WRONG RWY AT DEN. DEN WX WAS BROKEN WITH TSTMS IN THE DEN AREA. SEVERAL SCUD LAYERS WERE IN THE AREA APPROX 1200-1500 FT AGL. APCHING FROM THE NW WE DID 1 TURN IN HOLDING AT BENAM BEFORE BEING CLRED PROFILE DSCNT TO DEN. ILS 17L APCH WAS ASSIGNED AND FLOWN WITH CLRNC TO LAND. AT THE 1000 FT AGL POINT, TWR SAID HE WANTED US TO LAND ON RWY 17R. WE SAW A RWY TO THE R, WITH LIGHT INTENSITY FULL BRIGHT, AND DECIDED THAT A SIDE STEP MANEUVER COULD BE PERFORMED, AND TRANSITIONED FROM THE IFR APCH TO A VISUAL AND LANDED. THE LNDG RWY WAS 18. AT NO TIME DURING THE VISUAL MANEUVER TO THE R SIDE DID WE SEE RWY 17R. WE FELT THE LIGHTS ON 17R WERE VERY LOW OR NOT ON. ADDITIONALLY, AN ACFT WAS OBSERVED LNDG AND EXITING THE RWY DURING OUR VISUAL MANEUVER. THE LNDG WAS UNEVENTFUL AND THE FIRST INDICATION OF A PROB WAS THAT THE BRIEFED TURNOFFS WERE NOT CORRECT. TWR INSTRUCTED US TO TAXI TO THE END AND TURN OFF ON T-1. THE TAXI TO THE GATE WAS SOP.
