Narrative:
Situation: taxiing from FBO to runway 31R at dsm airport. Our clearance was to taxi via taxiway a, runway 23, taxiway D to runway 31R. As we turned off runway 23 and onto taxiway D, I was reading the taxi checklist. Looking on my HSI I noticed our 'heading' was not approximately 130 degrees. By this time we should be paralleling runway 31 so I looked up. The taxi layout at this point was confusing, so I looked over my right shoulder and saw that we were about to cross runway edge lights. At this point I told the captain to stop. Turning my head to the left I saw that at that moment an large transport made a go around. Ground control, which was also handling tower and departure/arrs, cleared us now 'into position and hold,' after which we received our takeoff clearance. Neither ATC nor the air carrier crew did try to contact us about the occurrence. When the large transport started its go around we were still on ground frequency.

Title: UNAUTH RWY ENTRY IN NIGHT OP.
Narrative: SIT: TAXIING FROM FBO TO RWY 31R AT DSM ARPT. OUR CLRNC WAS TO TAXI VIA TXWY A, RWY 23, TXWY D TO RWY 31R. AS WE TURNED OFF RWY 23 AND ONTO TXWY D, I WAS READING THE TAXI CHKLIST. LOOKING ON MY HSI I NOTICED OUR 'HDG' WAS NOT APPROX 130 DEGS. BY THIS TIME WE SHOULD BE PARALLELING RWY 31 SO I LOOKED UP. THE TAXI LAYOUT AT THIS POINT WAS CONFUSING, SO I LOOKED OVER MY R SHOULDER AND SAW THAT WE WERE ABOUT TO CROSS RWY EDGE LIGHTS. AT THIS POINT I TOLD THE CAPT TO STOP. TURNING MY HEAD TO THE L I SAW THAT AT THAT MOMENT AN LGT MADE A GAR. GND CTL, WHICH WAS ALSO HANDLING TWR AND DEP/ARRS, CLRED US NOW 'INTO POS AND HOLD,' AFTER WHICH WE RECEIVED OUR TKOF CLRNC. NEITHER ATC NOR THE ACR CREW DID TRY TO CONTACT US ABOUT THE OCCURRENCE. WHEN THE LGT STARTED ITS GAR WE WERE STILL ON GND FREQ.
