Narrative:
On climb out at 22800 ft, loud noise that shook airplane was heard and felt. #2 engine egt rose to 600 degrees, #2 EPR dropped to 1.25. After throttles reduced, all indications returned to normal. Returned to bwi, landing uneventful. Post-flight inspection: most compressor blades damaged, engine required changing.

Narrative: ON CLBOUT AT 22800 FT, LOUD NOISE THAT SHOOK AIRPLANE WAS HEARD AND FELT. #2 ENG EGT ROSE TO 600 DEGS, #2 EPR DROPPED TO 1.25. AFTER THROTTLES REDUCED, ALL INDICATIONS RETURNED TO NORMAL. RETURNED TO BWI, LNDG UNEVENTFUL. POST-FLT INSPECTION: MOST COMPRESSOR BLADES DAMAGED, ENG REQUIRED CHANGING.
