En route from ord to ory. Left engine oil quantity dropped to '0.' temperatures/pressures remained ok. After consulting with dispatch, diverted to jfk. Completed normal approach and landing with minimum sink rate. No special handling was required. Landed at 282000 pounds, 4000 pounds over maximum. Supplemental information from acn 257884: oil temperature and pressure were normal and no EICAS message appeared.
