Narrative:
I was inbound IFR to laf when I was instructed to hold at bvt due to present traffic. Before I entered the hold, laf approach cleared me direct to earle (LOM) for the ILS approach. When I got over earle, I had a difficult time establishing outbound for the procedure turn so I requested back to bvt (VOR) to retry the ILS runway 10. Laf approach told me to climb to 6000 ft and report 4 mi northwest of bvt (VOR). I replied and went 4 mi (DME) northwest of bvt. The next instructions were for me to hold again on bvt and expect an efc time of XB05 pm local when the present time was about XA10 P.M. I was down to about 32-36 mins of fuel left and I was shaken up a little due to messing up the ILS approach. I knew I didn't have the fuel to hold so I called laf approach and declared 'minimum fuel' and an emergency. Seconds later, I was transferred to ZAU and I asked for a vector to the ILS. ZAU vectored me in from about 3 mi out from earle (LOM) and I completed the approach into lafayette runway 10. Apparently, I have been instructed to file this report by my flight instructor due to an event of an aircraft that took off unclred when I was given priority. It had absolutely no effect with my flight.

Title: MISSED APCH AND VECTOR TO BVT HOLD WITH 50 MIN DELAY. MIN FUEL AND EMER DECLARED.
Narrative: I WAS INBOUND IFR TO LAF WHEN I WAS INSTRUCTED TO HOLD AT BVT DUE TO PRESENT TFC. BEFORE I ENTERED THE HOLD, LAF APCH CLRED ME DIRECT TO EARLE (LOM) FOR THE ILS APCH. WHEN I GOT OVER EARLE, I HAD A DIFFICULT TIME ESTABLISHING OUTBOUND FOR THE PROC TURN SO I REQUESTED BACK TO BVT (VOR) TO RETRY THE ILS RWY 10. LAF APCH TOLD ME TO CLB TO 6000 FT AND RPT 4 MI NW OF BVT (VOR). I REPLIED AND WENT 4 MI (DME) NW OF BVT. THE NEXT INSTRUCTIONS WERE FOR ME TO HOLD AGAIN ON BVT AND EXPECT AN EFC TIME OF XB05 PM LCL WHEN THE PRESENT TIME WAS ABOUT XA10 P.M. I WAS DOWN TO ABOUT 32-36 MINS OF FUEL LEFT AND I WAS SHAKEN UP A LITTLE DUE TO MESSING UP THE ILS APCH. I KNEW I DIDN'T HAVE THE FUEL TO HOLD SO I CALLED LAF APCH AND DECLARED 'MINIMUM FUEL' AND AN EMER. SECONDS LATER, I WAS TRANSFERRED TO ZAU AND I ASKED FOR A VECTOR TO THE ILS. ZAU VECTORED ME IN FROM ABOUT 3 MI OUT FROM EARLE (LOM) AND I COMPLETED THE APCH INTO LAFAYETTE RWY 10. APPARENTLY, I HAVE BEEN INSTRUCTED TO FILE THIS RPT BY MY FLT INSTRUCTOR DUE TO AN EVENT OF AN ACFT THAT TOOK OFF UNCLRED WHEN I WAS GIVEN PRIORITY. IT HAD ABSOLUTELY NO EFFECT WITH MY FLT.
