Narrative:
Copilot VOR stuck to the case during radial intercept. We missed the turn at the intersection for the arrival at ewr. The VOR then started fluctuating 5 degrees left and right. The ATC controller was very helpful with the situation. No conflict was noted. The arrival was the ward 5 into ewr. Supplemental information from acn 259079: as I approached speak I tuned in smyrna 055 degree (to). I started a turn to intercept, as I did the CDI came off the case and centered. I rolled out and kept the needle centered. 3 or 4 mins later the center controller advised of a large turn to the left to reintercept the airway.

Narrative: COPLT VOR STUCK TO THE CASE DURING RADIAL INTERCEPT. WE MISSED THE TURN AT THE INTXN FOR THE ARR AT EWR. THE VOR THEN STARTED FLUCTUATING 5 DEGS L AND R. THE ATC CTLR WAS VERY HELPFUL WITH THE SIT. NO CONFLICT WAS NOTED. THE ARR WAS THE WARD 5 INTO EWR. SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION FROM ACN 259079: AS I APCHED SPEAK I TUNED IN SMYRNA 055 DEG (TO). I STARTED A TURN TO INTERCEPT, AS I DID THE CDI CAME OFF THE CASE AND CTRED. I ROLLED OUT AND KEPT THE NEEDLE CTRED. 3 OR 4 MINS LATER THE CTR CTLR ADVISED OF A LARGE TURN TO THE L TO REINTERCEPT THE AIRWAY.
