Narrative:
Shortly after departure from iad, the crew noticed that the right main landing gear down/locked light (green) was illuminated after the landing gear lever had been selected up. The abnormal/emergency checklist had no procedure for this scenario. Maintenance control was notified by radio, and was made aware of the situation. Maintenance control instructed the flight crew to cycle the landing gear and return to iad. Iad approach was made aware of the circumstances and was instructed to have crash/fire/rescue standing by the flight crew. After landing, the aircraft was taxied clear of the runway and shut down. Under the direction of maintenance control, the right main gear pin was installed and taxied to the gate.
