Narrative:

We had flown a couple legs in a particular aircraft when ground personnel mentioned that the aft window emergency exits didn't look just right. We checked the situation and found the left and right exits had been mixed up. When we contacted maintenance about the situation they said that this couldn't happen, but they were wrong. My concern at this time is that there may be other operators out there who don't know these exits may be switched around. Aircraft type is a dhc-8.

Title: 2 EMER EXIT HATCHES WERE SWITCHED WITH EACH OTHER IN A MDT.

Narrative: WE HAD FLOWN A COUPLE LEGS IN A PARTICULAR ACFT WHEN GND PERSONNEL MENTIONED THAT THE AFT WINDOW EMER EXITS DIDN'T LOOK JUST RIGHT. WE CHKED THE SIT AND FOUND THE L AND R EXITS HAD BEEN MIXED UP. WHEN WE CONTACTED MAINT ABOUT THE SIT THEY SAID THAT THIS COULDN'T HAPPEN, BUT THEY WERE WRONG. MY CONCERN AT THIS TIME IS THAT THERE MAY BE OTHER OPERATORS OUT THERE WHO DON'T KNOW THESE EXITS MAY BE SWITCHED AROUND. ACFT TYPE IS A DHC-8.
