Narrative:
How the problem arose: engine vibration. How it was discovered: landed at lake lila, ny, R225 degrees slk 44 NM and R323 degrees grl 63 NM. Corrective action: discovered loose spark plug cable and tightened up. This stopped the vibration and imbal in the engine. A conservation ranger of ny state came over and wanted to know what the problem was. I explained and he said that the lake was closed to motorized craft. He took my name, pilots number, address and registration number. This he said would be reported as a violation of state law. I explained that I had engine trouble and although not a life threatening situation I was forced to land immediately in order to assess the damage. As lake lilac was directly below, this was the prudent and safest course of action. After rectifying the problem I took off safely with no further trouble.
