Narrative:
I want to report a near miss between air carrier flight from dfw to bur and a red/white cessna. We were eastbound on ILS 8, cessna was northbound and passed under us right to left. TCASII showed vertical separation of cessna 300 ft below us as they crossed under our md-80 aircraft. I had to level our aircraft to avoid a collision. Burbank tower issued no vectors or leveloffs, they only called traffic. After landing I called tower supervisor and they said it was normal and they were too busy to talk. I told them I would report it.
