Narrative:
First officer notified captain that required fuel was not onboard and then notified company. Captain elected to continue checklist even though procedure is to stop at any item that can't be completed. First officer continued with cockpit duties and was subsequently asked if pushback clearance had been obtained. First officer obtained pushback clearance, engines started and airplane taxied out. During taxi out first officer initiated before takeoff checklist and informed captain that the fuel had not been uplifted. Captain returned to gate, had airplane fueled and continued to destination.
