Narrative:
ATC radar vector for approach at kix. Aircraft heading 050 degrees. ATC instructed direct (left turn) to karin. Started turn ATC said turn right immediately to 90 degrees for traffic. We saw 747 5- 8 mi ahead to left. Our MD11 did not have TCASII (cargo aircraft not required to have TCASII) with 2 pilot crew all aircraft should have TCASII. We would have been aware of other traffic if we had TCASII installed.
