Narrative:
We're taxiing into our parking spot on a very congested ramp. The captain was following the ground marshaller's parking commands. We're told by the marshaller to stop and set brakes and when the maintenance came on board the aircraft, he told us that the airplane wingtip had struck a fuel truck. With the sweptback wings on a dc-9 it is almost impossible to watch the wingtip and taxi the aircraft at the same time. So, the captain has to trust and watch the marshallers. They should have had a wingwalker to watch that left wingtip.
