Narrative:

I was flying a single-seater glider (discus B) from caesar creek (2oh9). At about XX00 EDT I was turning continuously to the left to gain ht (thermalling). Angle of bank was about 40 degrees and airspeed 50 KTS. When I was turning from west to north, I saw a single-engine low-wing, green on white airplane passing just below me. It was flying level and straight from west to east, probably on V-5. It continued on a straight course to the east after passage. There was no wake turbulence felt. I estimated the distance by comparison to the span of tow planes and the length of tow rope. Later I was told V-5 around clinton airport is a congested area.

ANGLE OF BANK WAS ABOUT 40 DEGS AND AIRSPD 50 KTS. WHEN I WAS TURNING FROM W TO N, I SAW A SINGLE-ENG LOW-WING, GREEN ON WHITE AIRPLANE PASSING JUST BELOW ME. IT WAS FLYING LEVEL AND STRAIGHT FROM W TO E, PROBABLY ON V-5. IT CONTINUED ON A STRAIGHT COURSE TO THE E AFTER PASSAGE. THERE WAS NO WAKE TURB FELT. I ESTIMATED THE DISTANCE BY COMPARISON TO THE SPAN OF TOW PLANES AND THE LENGTH OF TOW ROPE. LATER I WAS TOLD V-5 AROUND CLINTON ARPT IS A CONGESTED AREA.
