Narrative:
After takeoff and being radar vectored by cvg departure control (level at 8000 ft), a bump was felt in the airframe followed by a loss of power to the #1 engine. The continuous ignition was still on. But the #1 engine did not relight or continue to operate. The emergency failure checklist was accomplished and we returned to cvg. The cause of the failure was not determined in-flight, but possibilities were fuel problems or other internal failures. The flight landed without further incident. After landing, we asked the fire department to visually inspect for any obvious problems with the engine. They stated they saw nothing, so we taxied to the gate.

Title: #1 ENG FLAMEOUT.
Narrative: AFTER TKOF AND BEING RADAR VECTORED BY CVG DEP CTL (LEVEL AT 8000 FT), A BUMP WAS FELT IN THE AIRFRAME FOLLOWED BY A LOSS OF PWR TO THE #1 ENG. THE CONTINUOUS IGNITION WAS STILL ON. BUT THE #1 ENG DID NOT RELIGHT OR CONTINUE TO OPERATE. THE EMER FAILURE CHKLIST WAS ACCOMPLISHED AND WE RETURNED TO CVG. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED INFLT, BUT POSSIBILITIES WERE FUEL PROBS OR OTHER INTERNAL FAILURES. THE FLT LANDED WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. AFTER LNDG, WE ASKED THE FIRE DEPT TO VISUALLY INSPECT FOR ANY OBVIOUS PROBS WITH THE ENG. THEY STATED THEY SAW NOTHING, SO WE TAXIED TO THE GATE.
