Narrative:

We aborted takeoff due to confign warning horn. We checked all items associated with the takeoff warning and could find no deviation. All checklists were read and complied with. The checklist reply for flaps is 'flaps xx degrees, green light, detent.' we were using flaps 1 degree for takeoff because our original weight and balance called for a flaps 1 degree takeoff. This led us down the golden path to forget that we were in a dash 400. The 737-400 minimum flaps for takeoff is 5 degrees, the dash 300 minimum flaps for takeoff is 1 degree. The checklist used is exactly the same for the 2 aircraft. Perhaps, to avoid recurrence of this situation, the checklist should be more specific as to aircraft version.
