Narrative:

Aircraft P210 broke crank shaft: 1978. Engine had 600 hours on remanufactured engine. If 1994 technology was used this would not have happened. Engine quit at 11400 ft. Pilot was able to glide 12 mi and land at ashtabula county airport. Aircraft was not damaged other than costly engine. Gear horn made trip unbearable. Pilot was communicating with ZOB at time of emergency. Then given heading to airport 120 degrees and 12 KTS mi then handed off to erie departure. Emergency was declared and all emergency procedures were followed.
