Narrative:

On the first flight of the day at roc, we were taxiing out to runway 10. I was in the process of doing the first officer first flight of the day taxi checks when I happened to look up and see the captain about to taxi onto the active runway. The hold line was covered with snow and he didn't see it. We stopped short of the runway but across the hold line. Tower told us to cross the runway and hold on the other side. There was a plane on a final, but a few mi out. No conflict created. As the first officer I have a lot of checks to do on the first flight of the day, but I also have a responsibility to insure the other pilot doesn't taxi onto active runways. I should have been keeping aware of our location on the txwys.
