Narrative:
While on an international IFR flight from mynn to fxe at FL200. The following occurred. We were 70-100 NM from florida's east coast over the atlantic ocean in a citation sii with 2 crew and 2 passenger. WX was clear and it was daylight. Nassau clearance delivery cleared us to fxe via BR22V. BR22V is combined with BR54V for 62 NM. Northwest of nassau VOR on the 314 degree radial. BR22V turns west at linle intersection towards fll VOR while BR54V continues to pbi VOR. Crew failed to notice that BR22V split from BR54V and flew past linle intersection, remaining on BR54V. ZMA asked us if we showed ourselves on BR22V and we responded 'yes.' miami said that we were 20 NM off course and issued us a 260 degree vector to join BR22V. We complied and joined BR22V. By referring to our chart we discovered our error. No traffic conflicts were observed by ATC or crew. The contributing factor was the crew's failure to notice the split of BR22V from BR54V. The sic noted after receipt of clearance from clearance delivery, that we were rted far out of our way by going to pbi VOR first. This should have alerted us to the split in the airway. To prevent this I feel that the airway identifiers should be right beside the split, not farther down the airway.

TO PREVENT THIS I FEEL THAT THE AIRWAY IDENTIFIERS SHOULD BE RIGHT BESIDE THE SPLIT, NOT FARTHER DOWN THE AIRWAY.
