Narrative:
Descent cleared to 3000 ft -- my altimeters were set on 30.32. I listened to ATIS. Lots of interference with ZBW on cymx ATIS. First officer later listened to ATIS, altimeter was 29.32. He set his altitude to 29.32 -- did not check mine. Autoplt altitude window set 3000 ft (assigned) first officer used flight level change mode for descent. Aircraft leveled 3000 ft -- ATC advised us that we were at 2000 ft and reclred us at 2000 ft. I immediately checked the altimeters and we were 1000 ft low. Even though standard calls were used on descent (such as 4 for 3) first officer flew through assigned altitude on his altimeter. (Autoplt works off captain's altimeter). Additional information -- WX was such that a 29.32 altimeter was not expected -- winds were calm and a clearing trend was in the works. ZBW interferes with cymx ATIS until less than 100 mi from the airport. 2 man crew -- I was off the radio (ATC) talking to company when descent clearance was given and a new (or the ) altimeter setting was given to the first officer. Supplemental information from acn 295347: captain is a strong never makes mistakes guy but lacks good copilot mind set. In crew resource he is very authoritarian. Like flying with your father. I do not remember hearing altimeter issued from montreal. ATIS is french and english (not great engine). Boeing 757 levels at altimeter set in captain's top altimeter. Possible autoplt over confidence.

Title: ALTDEV ALT OVERSHOT -- WRONG ALTIMETER SETTING.
Narrative: DSCNT CLRED TO 3000 FT -- MY ALTIMETERS WERE SET ON 30.32. I LISTENED TO ATIS. LOTS OF INTERFERENCE WITH ZBW ON CYMX ATIS. FO LATER LISTENED TO ATIS, ALTIMETER WAS 29.32. HE SET HIS ALT TO 29.32 -- DID NOT CHK MINE. AUTOPLT ALT WINDOW SET 3000 FT (ASSIGNED) FO USED FLT LEVEL CHANGE MODE FOR DSCNT. ACFT LEVELED 3000 FT -- ATC ADVISED US THAT WE WERE AT 2000 FT AND RECLRED US AT 2000 FT. I IMMEDIATELY CHKED THE ALTIMETERS AND WE WERE 1000 FT LOW. EVEN THOUGH STANDARD CALLS WERE USED ON DSCNT (SUCH AS 4 FOR 3) FO FLEW THROUGH ASSIGNED ALT ON HIS ALTIMETER. (AUTOPLT WORKS OFF CAPT'S ALTIMETER). ADDITIONAL INFO -- WX WAS SUCH THAT A 29.32 ALTIMETER WAS NOT EXPECTED -- WINDS WERE CALM AND A CLRING TREND WAS IN THE WORKS. ZBW INTERFERES WITH CYMX ATIS UNTIL LESS THAN 100 MI FROM THE ARPT. 2 MAN CREW -- I WAS OFF THE RADIO (ATC) TALKING TO COMPANY WHEN DSCNT CLRNC WAS GIVEN AND A NEW (OR THE ) ALTIMETER SETTING WAS GIVEN TO THE FO. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 295347: CAPT IS A STRONG NEVER MAKES MISTAKES GUY BUT LACKS GOOD COPLT MIND SET. IN CREW RESOURCE HE IS VERY AUTHORITARIAN. LIKE FLYING WITH YOUR FATHER. I DO NOT REMEMBER HEARING ALTIMETER ISSUED FROM MONTREAL. ATIS IS FRENCH AND ENGLISH (NOT GREAT ENG). BOEING 757 LEVELS AT ALTIMETER SET IN CAPT'S TOP ALTIMETER. POSSIBLE AUTOPLT OVER CONFIDENCE.
