Narrative:
We were flying a departure procedure known as the 'bacardi 1' procedure, palco transition. This calls for leveloff or climb no higher than 3000 ft when departing to the south of stt. The captain (PF) climbed up to 3500 ft, prior to ATC query about our altitude. We were then transferred to the next ATC facility without incident. At 3000 ft I reminded the captain to leveloff but he stated that we could climb to 4000 ft -- not so!
