Narrative:
During descent (pullman arrival) to ord, at about 14400 ft, a loud thump was both heard and felt. I immediately started checking all hydraulic and gear indications. The sound seemed to come from the nose gear area. Apparently the captain (who was flying) was also checking instruments. Before we realized it, we had gone through our assigned altitude by approximately 350 ft.
