Narrative:
After climb out from addison field/dallas I established cruise at 3000 ft MSL thinking that I could fly at, but not above 3000 ft MSL and still stay clear of class B airspace. After about 10 seconds the controller at addison tower advised me to descend below 3000 ft to stay clear of class B airspace. I answered by telling him I was indicating 3000 ft thinking of the above stated reason. The controller then advised me again to descend below 3000 ft to stay clear of class B airspace whereby I realized my mistake and descended below 3000-2700 ft and continued my flight to oun, ok.
