Narrative:

Cleared late to cross markm at 9000 ft. Just as I was going to say we couldn't do it, we got new clearance to a heading to intercept 40 degree radial and go to 9000 ft. We passed outside markm and went to clearance and they asked for our altitude passing. It was 9800 ft and we were past markm. Felt that they were expecting 9000 ft at markm. We believed that new clearance changed crossing restr. MM.
