Narrative:
After leaving the holding pattern and starting to proceed inbound to stl, a crossing restr was issued by ZKC to cross the stl VOR 078 degree radial 45 DME at 15000 ft. We were at FL220 and approximately 85 DME when clearance was given. We made several deviations for thunderstorms while trying to proceed inbound on the stl 078 degree radial. As we made our last turn around the last thunderstorm, we were called by center (at stl 078 degree radial 47 DME) and asked if we would make the crossing restr. We then initiated descent and crossed the 45 DME at approximately 18000 ft and leveled off at approximately 37 DME. As the PNF, I was performing duties associated with leaving holding, (ACARS message to dispatch) and arrival (ATIS for stl and called stl operations), after the crossing restr was received. After these items were completed, I focused my attention on the WX deviations. Supplemental information from acn 303652: failed to keep in mind descent clearance due to WX deviation distraction.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: ALTDEV ALT UNDERSHOT IN A NON ADHERENCE TO ATC CLRNC INSTRUCTION. ALT XING RESTR NOT MET.
Narrative: AFTER LEAVING THE HOLDING PATTERN AND STARTING TO PROCEED INBOUND TO STL, A XING RESTR WAS ISSUED BY ZKC TO CROSS THE STL VOR 078 DEG RADIAL 45 DME AT 15000 FT. WE WERE AT FL220 AND APPROX 85 DME WHEN CLRNC WAS GIVEN. WE MADE SEVERAL DEVS FOR TSTMS WHILE TRYING TO PROCEED INBOUND ON THE STL 078 DEG RADIAL. AS WE MADE OUR LAST TURN AROUND THE LAST TSTM, WE WERE CALLED BY CTR (AT STL 078 DEG RADIAL 47 DME) AND ASKED IF WE WOULD MAKE THE XING RESTR. WE THEN INITIATED DSCNT AND CROSSED THE 45 DME AT APPROX 18000 FT AND LEVELED OFF AT APPROX 37 DME. AS THE PNF, I WAS PERFORMING DUTIES ASSOCIATED WITH LEAVING HOLDING, (ACARS MESSAGE TO DISPATCH) AND ARR (ATIS FOR STL AND CALLED STL OPS), AFTER THE XING RESTR WAS RECEIVED. AFTER THESE ITEMS WERE COMPLETED, I FOCUSED MY ATTN ON THE WX DEVS. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 303652: FAILED TO KEEP IN MIND DSCNT CLRNC DUE TO WX DEV DISTR.
