Narrative:

Approximately 170 mi north of roseburg we were assigned a heading and told to go direct roseburg when able. The VOR mode was not engaged and the heading took us 10 mi to the east of the VOR. Center brought this to our attention and we corrected to go direct. Center then gave us a new heading and told us to go direct point rayes. No airspace was violated nor was there separation problem with other aircraft. We had previously been flying aircraft with an omega and were used to going direct with the RNAV. I believe this led to some complacency.

Narrative: APPROX 170 MI N OF ROSEBURG WE WERE ASSIGNED A HDG AND TOLD TO GO DIRECT ROSEBURG WHEN ABLE. THE VOR MODE WAS NOT ENGAGED AND THE HDG TOOK US 10 MI TO THE E OF THE VOR. CTR BROUGHT THIS TO OUR ATTN AND WE CORRECTED TO GO DIRECT. CTR THEN GAVE US A NEW HDG AND TOLD US TO GO DIRECT POINT RAYES. NO AIRSPACE WAS VIOLATED NOR WAS THERE SEPARATION PROB WITH OTHER ACFT. WE HAD PREVIOUSLY BEEN FLYING ACFT WITH AN OMEGA AND WERE USED TO GOING DIRECT WITH THE RNAV. I BELIEVE THIS LED TO SOME COMPLACENCY.
