Narrative:
Leak in 'yellow' hydraulic system caused ECAM warning out of FL230. First officer PF, captain PNF. Captain worked the problem on the ECAM and completed the procedure in the 'aircraft operating manual.' he decided to return to mco as closest suitable airport in point of time. He declared an emergency, we were cleared back to mco via bitho arrival. Thunderstorm in progress when we arrived at mco with windshear alerts. We decided to hold (plenty of fuel) until storm passed. After 10 mins, airfield was clear and we landed without incident. Total loss of 'yellow' hydraulic system left us with normal brakes and steering, but no #2 reverser.
