Narrative:
Flight planned for 14000 ft. Captain (PF) decided that 12000 ft would be a good altitude, already cleared to 14000 ft. (Set in altitude select window). Requested 12000 ft as a final to ZMA -- told to standby. When he got back to us, we were already through 11000 ft. Approved 12000 ft as a final. Aircraft was on autoplt. Crew did not reselect 12000 ft in altitude selector window, therefore, there was no warning approaching 12000 ft or through 12000 ft. Realize the error 12700 ft and corrected. Attribute some of this error to crew being tired. This was our 3RD leg of a 5 leg day after a scheduled rest of just 8 hours and 10 mins the night before. This was the 4TH day of flying. Our morning began with an AM40 hotel departure -- hotel arrival the night before was approximately PM45, 8 hours previous. Actual flying time for the 4 days was 23 hours. Airlines should not be allowed to build reduced rest into schedules. Most of all of our schedules have reduced rest built into the last overnight of a sequence since mandatory extended rest will then occur on the pilot's day off instead of on company time.

Title: ALTDEV ALT OVERSHOT IN CLB IN AN ACR LTT.
Narrative: FLT PLANNED FOR 14000 FT. CAPT (PF) DECIDED THAT 12000 FT WOULD BE A GOOD ALT, ALREADY CLRED TO 14000 FT. (SET IN ALT SELECT WINDOW). REQUESTED 12000 FT AS A FINAL TO ZMA -- TOLD TO STANDBY. WHEN HE GOT BACK TO US, WE WERE ALREADY THROUGH 11000 FT. APPROVED 12000 FT AS A FINAL. ACFT WAS ON AUTOPLT. CREW DID NOT RESELECT 12000 FT IN ALT SELECTOR WINDOW, THEREFORE, THERE WAS NO WARNING APCHING 12000 FT OR THROUGH 12000 FT. REALIZE THE ERROR 12700 FT AND CORRECTED. ATTRIBUTE SOME OF THIS ERROR TO CREW BEING TIRED. THIS WAS OUR 3RD LEG OF A 5 LEG DAY AFTER A SCHEDULED REST OF JUST 8 HRS AND 10 MINS THE NIGHT BEFORE. THIS WAS THE 4TH DAY OF FLYING. OUR MORNING BEGAN WITH AN AM40 HOTEL DEP -- HOTEL ARR THE NIGHT BEFORE WAS APPROX PM45, 8 HRS PREVIOUS. ACTUAL FLYING TIME FOR THE 4 DAYS WAS 23 HRS. AIRLINES SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO BUILD REDUCED REST INTO SCHEDULES. MOST OF ALL OF OUR SCHEDULES HAVE REDUCED REST BUILT INTO THE LAST OVERNIGHT OF A SEQUENCE SINCE MANDATORY EXTENDED REST WILL THEN OCCUR ON THE PLT'S DAY OFF INSTEAD OF ON COMPANY TIME.
