Narrative:
Loss of all hydraulic after takeoff. Landing gear and flaps remained extended, unable to retract. This required emergency return to departure airport (den). After running all emergency/normal/abnormal checklists, emergency was declared. ZDV advised loss of all hydraulics, requesting emergency equipment for landing rollout for hot brakes/blown tires if necessary (only blew 1 main gear tire). Also advised location and type of hazardous material, to remain clear of main gear, check nosewheel only, that aircraft would require tow off runway, fuel and crew member totals on board. Departed den runway 17L, arrived den runway 17R. Crew management, company procedures, ATC procedures worked very well together, no difficulties. Aircraft malfunction was due to broken hydraulic line to left aileron power pack. This caused loss of all general system capability.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: WDB CARGO ACFT HAS HYD FAILURE AFTER LIFTOFF. RETURN LAND.
Narrative: LOSS OF ALL HYD AFTER TKOF. LNDG GEAR AND FLAPS REMAINED EXTENDED, UNABLE TO RETRACT. THIS REQUIRED EMER RETURN TO DEP ARPT (DEN). AFTER RUNNING ALL EMER/NORMAL/ABNORMAL CHKLISTS, EMER WAS DECLARED. ZDV ADVISED LOSS OF ALL HYDS, REQUESTING EMER EQUIP FOR LNDG ROLLOUT FOR HOT BRAKES/BLOWN TIRES IF NECESSARY (ONLY BLEW 1 MAIN GEAR TIRE). ALSO ADVISED LOCATION AND TYPE OF HAZARDOUS MATERIAL, TO REMAIN CLR OF MAIN GEAR, CHK NOSEWHEEL ONLY, THAT ACFT WOULD REQUIRE TOW OFF RWY, FUEL AND CREW MEMBER TOTALS ON BOARD. DEPARTED DEN RWY 17L, ARRIVED DEN RWY 17R. CREW MGMNT, COMPANY PROCS, ATC PROCS WORKED VERY WELL TOGETHER, NO DIFFICULTIES. ACFT MALFUNCTION WAS DUE TO BROKEN HYD LINE TO L AILERON PWR PACK. THIS CAUSED LOSS OF ALL GENERAL SYS CAPABILITY.
