Narrative:

During climb out from gtf on the 238 degree radial I was trying to determine the most effective way to avoid a large cell on the WX radar. During this time center asked if I had requested a higher altitude. I then realized I had climbed through my assigned altitude of 14000 ft by 500 ft. I told center that I was correcting back to my altitude. There were no other aircraft in the area at the time. This could have been avoided if I had not been so intent on the WX ahead of my flight path.
