Narrative:
Late clearance to cross adena at 12000 ft and to keep our speed up was received. During descent, we were given speed reduction to 280 KTS requiring speed brakes and steep, rapid descent. We leveled at 12000 ft before altimeters were reset and found we were 500 ft high. Approximately 2 mins later, altimeters were reset and clearance was received to continue down to 9000 ft. A case of being distracted from the present checklist by tight airspeed and altitude restrs.
