Narrative:
Cleared to taxi from gate to runway 31C, hold short of runway 31R. Taxiing out, performing pre-takeoff checklist, just crossed hold short line, but stopped approximately 50 ft from runway. Never did actually cross onto runway! Controller said we were told to hold short, and now to continue straight ahead across runway 31R to runway 31C. From our recollection, traffic for runway 31R was on 2-3 mi final. I believe both captain and I became engrossed in completing before takeoff checklist. I will be more careful in the future to divide my attention in and out of the cockpit. I would like to point out that when we were issued the original taxi clearance from ground, I read back the hold short instructions. Additionally, as I always do, I verbalized the hold short clearance to the captain after I read back the clearance to ground control.

Title: TAXI INSTRUCTIONS TO CTR RWY TO HOLD SHORT OF R RWY. ACFT CROSSED HOLD SHORT LINE, BUT NOT ONTO RWY. DISTRS FROM CHKLIST AND POSSIBLE LIGHT REFLECTION CONTRIBUTED. GND CTLR INTERVENED AND ISSUED CLRNC TO CROSS RWY.
