Narrative:

While being controled by dallas regional approach control at 3000 ft assigned, traffic was issued by controller at 12 O'clock at 2500 ft. At this time the TCASII reported 'traffic, traffic' and highlighted the target on the vsi. It displayed 2500 ft with an up arrow. The target then displayed 2600 ft and 2700 ft climbing. The TCASII then issued a RA of 'climb, climb' which we followed since we had no visual contact and were IMC. We climbed to 3250 ft and then the TCASII issued monitor 'vertical speed.' the conflicting target then displayed 2500 ft. We advised the controller that we were responding to TCASII RA and also, when we returned to assigned altitude of 3000 ft. Supplemental information from acn 323175: in this area, it is common for GA aircraft to fly right at the lower limit of the class B airspace. Airliners are also assigned these altitudes by ATC as they approach the airport. TCASII RA's are very common as a result.

Title: AN ACR GETS A TCASII 'RA' FROM A GA ACFT OPERATING BELOW THE CLASS 'B' AIRSPACE AND CLBS 250 FT TO AFFORD ADEQUATE SEPARATION.

Narrative: WHILE BEING CTLED BY DALLAS REGIONAL APCH CTL AT 3000 FT ASSIGNED, TFC WAS ISSUED BY CTLR AT 12 O'CLOCK AT 2500 FT. AT THIS TIME THE TCASII RPTED 'TFC, TFC' AND HIGHLIGHTED THE TARGET ON THE VSI. IT DISPLAYED 2500 FT WITH AN UP ARROW. THE TARGET THEN DISPLAYED 2600 FT AND 2700 FT CLBING. THE TCASII THEN ISSUED A RA OF 'CLB, CLB' WHICH WE FOLLOWED SINCE WE HAD NO VISUAL CONTACT AND WERE IMC. WE CLBED TO 3250 FT AND THEN THE TCASII ISSUED MONITOR 'VERT SPD.' THE CONFLICTING TARGET THEN DISPLAYED 2500 FT. WE ADVISED THE CTLR THAT WE WERE RESPONDING TO TCASII RA AND ALSO, WHEN WE RETURNED TO ASSIGNED ALT OF 3000 FT. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 323175: IN THIS AREA, IT IS COMMON FOR GA ACFT TO FLY RIGHT AT THE LOWER LIMIT OF THE CLASS B AIRSPACE. AIRLINERS ARE ALSO ASSIGNED THESE ALTS BY ATC AS THEY APCH THE ARPT. TCASII RA'S ARE VERY COMMON AS A RESULT.
