Narrative:

On departure, cockpit and cabin filled with smoke along with an acrid odor. Lavatory smoke detectors activated. An emergency was declared, equipment advised to standby. An immediate return to the departure field was initiated. A normal arrival and gate arrival followed. This aircraft had the same occurrence the previous day. Maintenance had worked on the aircraft and signed it off airworthy. In the future, I would strongly recommend a fly-back to satisfy a corrected condition.
