Narrative:

Vectored across localizer for spacing, then turned back to intercept localizer, slow, descent, and then cleared for the ILS runway 1. We were unable to slow and descend prior to GS interception. After an unsuccessful attempt to capture the GS from above it, we were instructed to climb to 3000 ft. The first officer (PF) climbed through 3000 ft. I called 'altitude 3000 ft,' twice, then put my right hand on his left hand (on power levers) and called, 'get the power back, the (assigned) altitude's 3000 ft.' we were between 3400 ft and 3500 ft MSL when he corrected. I turned on the autoplt at 3000 ft so he could 'take a break.' this first officer had joined me for the last leg of the night. When we called our 'times' to dispatch upon 'checking out,' I learned that he had just finished a 15 1/2 hour duty day and was scheduled for a reduced rest overnight.

Narrative: VECTORED ACROSS LOC FOR SPACING, THEN TURNED BACK TO INTERCEPT LOC, SLOW, DSCNT, AND THEN CLRED FOR THE ILS RWY 1. WE WERE UNABLE TO SLOW AND DSND PRIOR TO GS INTERCEPTION. AFTER AN UNSUCCESSFUL ATTEMPT TO CAPTURE THE GS FROM ABOVE IT, WE WERE INSTRUCTED TO CLB TO 3000 FT. THE FO (PF) CLBED THROUGH 3000 FT. I CALLED 'ALT 3000 FT,' TWICE, THEN PUT MY R HAND ON HIS L HAND (ON PWR LEVERS) AND CALLED, 'GET THE PWR BACK, THE (ASSIGNED) ALT'S 3000 FT.' WE WERE BTWN 3400 FT AND 3500 FT MSL WHEN HE CORRECTED. I TURNED ON THE AUTOPLT AT 3000 FT SO HE COULD 'TAKE A BREAK.' THIS FO HAD JOINED ME FOR THE LAST LEG OF THE NIGHT. WHEN WE CALLED OUR 'TIMES' TO DISPATCH UPON 'CHKING OUT,' I LEARNED THAT HE HAD JUST FINISHED A 15 1/2 HR DUTY DAY AND WAS SCHEDULED FOR A REDUCED REST OVERNIGHT.
