Narrative:
At west hampton airport we were departing on runway 33. Because of snow covered txwys and runways we taxied to runway 33 by means of a center taxiway and we were cleared to runway 33. At the intersection of 2 runways we asked if we were cleared to runway 33 and tower said roger. We back taxied after clearing traffic pattern and then were advised that we were not cleared to back taxi. We apologized for the error and tower said ok. We departed airport. Supplemental information from acn 330612: ATC cleared us to taxi by no specific means to runway 33. I asked permission to cross an intersecting runway and was cleared. I assumed ground was aware of our position and cleared us to back taxi runway 33. Also request some duty time restr for part 91 operators. We routinely pull 18-20 hour days.
