Narrative:

We were on pom 6 departure from ont airport and told to cross pom as published, and cleared to 14000 ft. Well for some reason the FMC had 9000 ft for pom VOR. I did not notice and thought 9000 ft was the right altitude. We even talked about it going through 5000 ft. Then departure control said, air carrier X say altitude. We said 9000 ft and they said that 8000 ft is the correct altitude. One thing that would help is for departure control to say altitude (8000 ft) and not say as published. If they would have done this I would have noticed my mistake.
