Narrative:

At cruise, FL280, noticed flow light and cabin altitude at approximately 8000 ft. Tried to lower cabin, unable. Asked ZTL for lower. Given FL250. Cabin still climbing above 8500 ft. Declared emergency. Emergency descent to 15000 ft, then 11000 ft, then 10000 ft. Cabin climbed to approximately 12000 ft. Mask deployed. All passenger ok. Airplane repressurized at 10000 ft. All normal, abnormal and emergency checklists failed to regain cabin prior to masks being ejected. Totally uneventful landing in clt. Cause unknown.
