During descent, both flying first officer and captain became distracted checking their airport diagram pages and failed to level at assigned altitude. Altitude alerter probably got their attention and they returned to assigned altitude.

Narrative:

First officer flying and failed to level off at 7000 ft. Went to 6300 ft before the captain realized it and correction was made by first officer to 7000 ft. Captain had been checking the airfield diagram and so was calling in range to cvg for departure and arrival gates/ramp information.
