Narrative:
Issued land and hold short B, runway 18R. Soft landing caused speed brake to retract and aircraft floated considerably and resulted in long landing. I mistook taxiway B for taxiway a and we were issued hold short taxiway B. First officer noted land and hold short as well, but it was too late to turn onto it as I was headed for B thinking it was a. I believe long landing was the beginning of the problem. I called dfw tower who said it was not a problem. Supplemental information from acn 334924: as we approached the highspd just prior to taxiway B the tower asked if we could make the turn onto B and we were cleared to turn on B. The captain actually heading for taxiway a and prior to reaching a I requested and received clearance for alpha. I believe we received clearance for each new turnoff prior to crossing previous hold short clearance. The runway was clear and no aircraft were waiting to cross.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: AN ACR MD80 FLC MISTOOK THE TXWY THAT THEY WERE TO HOLD SHORT OF AND CONTINUED PAST IT, AFTER THEY EXPERIENCED FLOATING FROM SPD BRAKE RETRACTION. IT WAS NOTICED TOO LATE THAT THE ACFT HAD TRAVELED PAST THE INTXN WITH TXWY B. PLT DEV.
Narrative: ISSUED LAND AND HOLD SHORT B, RWY 18R. SOFT LNDG CAUSED SPD BRAKE TO RETRACT AND ACFT FLOATED CONSIDERABLY AND RESULTED IN LONG LNDG. I MISTOOK TXWY B FOR TXWY A AND WE WERE ISSUED HOLD SHORT TXWY B. FO NOTED LAND AND HOLD SHORT AS WELL, BUT IT WAS TOO LATE TO TURN ONTO IT AS I WAS HEADED FOR B THINKING IT WAS A. I BELIEVE LONG LNDG WAS THE BEGINNING OF THE PROB. I CALLED DFW TWR WHO SAID IT WAS NOT A PROB. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 334924: AS WE APCHED THE HIGHSPD JUST PRIOR TO TXWY B THE TWR ASKED IF WE COULD MAKE THE TURN ONTO B AND WE WERE CLRED TO TURN ON B. THE CAPT ACTUALLY HDG FOR TXWY A AND PRIOR TO REACHING A I REQUESTED AND RECEIVED CLRNC FOR ALPHA. I BELIEVE WE RECEIVED CLRNC FOR EACH NEW TURNOFF PRIOR TO XING PREVIOUS HOLD SHORT CLRNC. THE RWY WAS CLR AND NO ACFT WERE WAITING TO CROSS.
