Narrative:
I was assigned the farmingdale 2 SID out of republic airport on long island (IFR). I read back a lengthy clearance to avp and looked at the SID for runway 19, which is a turn to 220 degrees. However, I departed runway 1. After climbing runway heading the controller called radar contact. I then initiated a turn to 220 degrees. The controller asked where I was headed and I responded 220 degrees. He said negative, turn now to 040 degrees. He said, 'I don't know where you got that from, but the SID is for straight out departure.' a little later he said, 'the 220 degree turn is for runway 19.' however, there was no conflicting traffic as he caught the mistake before I completed the turn. I should have had the SID oriented to the runway I took off from, in my lap, not committed to memory. I will from now on.

Title: AFTER BEING ASSIGNED A SID, RPTR LOOKED AT A SID FOR A DIFFERENT RWY, WHICH WAS A DIFFERENT NAME AND INITIAL HDG. THEN, AFTER TKOF AND RPTR STARTED TURNING, ATC INTERVENED AND PROVIDED CORRECT HDG INFO.
Narrative: I WAS ASSIGNED THE FARMINGDALE 2 SID OUT OF REPUBLIC ARPT ON LONG ISLAND (IFR). I READ BACK A LENGTHY CLRNC TO AVP AND LOOKED AT THE SID FOR RWY 19, WHICH IS A TURN TO 220 DEGS. HOWEVER, I DEPARTED RWY 1. AFTER CLBING RWY HDG THE CTLR CALLED RADAR CONTACT. I THEN INITIATED A TURN TO 220 DEGS. THE CTLR ASKED WHERE I WAS HEADED AND I RESPONDED 220 DEGS. HE SAID NEGATIVE, TURN NOW TO 040 DEGS. HE SAID, 'I DON'T KNOW WHERE YOU GOT THAT FROM, BUT THE SID IS FOR STRAIGHT OUT DEP.' A LITTLE LATER HE SAID, 'THE 220 DEG TURN IS FOR RWY 19.' HOWEVER, THERE WAS NO CONFLICTING TFC AS HE CAUGHT THE MISTAKE BEFORE I COMPLETED THE TURN. I SHOULD HAVE HAD THE SID ORIENTED TO THE RWY I TOOK OFF FROM, IN MY LAP, NOT COMMITTED TO MEMORY. I WILL FROM NOW ON.
