Narrative:
Smoke/fire in forward cargo. Location: parked at gate at mbj. After parking at gate, mechanic came up to inform us of smoke coming from forward cargo compartment. Engineer and I went out to look and I saw a large quantity of smoke coming from forward compartment. I returned immediately to aircraft and we quickly exited passenger left on plane through forward entry. Fire crews arrived quickly and sprayed foam and water into forward cargo and pulled out an igloo like ice chest that was source of smoke. No injuries and plane did not sustain damage according to maintenance in mbj.
