Heading deviation on STAR. Flight crew had just changed the PF and reporter forgot to change the course outbound from the arrival fix. Apparently ATC queried their heading. Reporter lists prevention measures to insure STAR compliance, work less hours, hire more controllers and flcs should brief and monitor each other.

Just changed roles from PF to PNF inbound to end on waard 5 at ewr. The new PF didn't change CDI from end 055 degrees inbound to 044 degrees outbound. Prevention: them: work less hours. Hire more ATC controllers (less delays, shorter days). Us: monitor, brief.
