Narrative:
Between tth and bwg, location: 50 NM north of bwg VOR, approaching tth, I told the copilot that he had the controls because I was going to make a PA. I deselected the center frequency so that I could hear myself give the PA. During the PA I looked down at the VOR needle and it was 40 degrees to the right when we should have been going direct. I mentioned it to the copilot about the same time he saw it. He started an immediate right turn to correct and at that same time, center asked him what our heading was. He said we made a mistake and were correcting. I then asked center if there was any conflict and he said no. The copilot had started a 10 degree left turn after passing tth and then started adjusting the power and forgot that the 10 degree bank was selected. He drifted off about 40 degrees, but fortunately no conflict occurred. Supplemental information from acn 350691: when proceeding direct from tth to bwg, I centered the bwg VOR needle and initiated a left 10 degree bank turn. I then went to adjust the power to cruise and got involved in fine tuning it.

Title: FLC HDG TRACK DEV DURING A 'DIRECT' OP. ROLE REVERSAL AS FO TOOK OVER WHEN PIC WAS OFF MAKING A PA ANNOUNCEMENT.
Narrative: BTWN TTH AND BWG, LOCATION: 50 NM N OF BWG VOR, APCHING TTH, I TOLD THE COPLT THAT HE HAD THE CTLS BECAUSE I WAS GOING TO MAKE A PA. I DESELECTED THE CTR FREQ SO THAT I COULD HEAR MYSELF GIVE THE PA. DURING THE PA I LOOKED DOWN AT THE VOR NEEDLE AND IT WAS 40 DEGS TO THE R WHEN WE SHOULD HAVE BEEN GOING DIRECT. I MENTIONED IT TO THE COPLT ABOUT THE SAME TIME HE SAW IT. HE STARTED AN IMMEDIATE R TURN TO CORRECT AND AT THAT SAME TIME, CTR ASKED HIM WHAT OUR HDG WAS. HE SAID WE MADE A MISTAKE AND WERE CORRECTING. I THEN ASKED CTR IF THERE WAS ANY CONFLICT AND HE SAID NO. THE COPLT HAD STARTED A 10 DEG L TURN AFTER PASSING TTH AND THEN STARTED ADJUSTING THE PWR AND FORGOT THAT THE 10 DEG BANK WAS SELECTED. HE DRIFTED OFF ABOUT 40 DEGS, BUT FORTUNATELY NO CONFLICT OCCURRED. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 350691: WHEN PROCEEDING DIRECT FROM TTH TO BWG, I CTRED THE BWG VOR NEEDLE AND INITIATED A L 10 DEG BANK TURN. I THEN WENT TO ADJUST THE PWR TO CRUISE AND GOT INVOLVED IN FINE TUNING IT.
