Narrative:
ATC facility: ZDC. Location: lyh 020/40 approximately. On our flight from dfw to phl we were being vectored to lyh for holding at FL330. The aircraft was in a 20 degree bank right turn toward our holding fix when the autoplt had an uncommanded disconnect. The first officer took manual control of the aircraft to arrest the pitch up. The resulting altitude excursion was approximately +300 ft and -250 ft. No deviation was noted or implied by ATC. The altitude deviation lasted only a few seconds.
